John Valentine - extended bio

From the beginning, John's skills in understanding the markets were apparent. In his very first year in the business, John won #1 rookie of the year in production including all 50 states by Dean Witter Reynolds (which was acquired). Since then he has continued to win numerous awards including #1 BD production over 15 years.

Prior to forming Valentine Capital Retirement Planning Group and eventually Valentine Wealth and VCAM- John worked for a brokerage firm owned by GE Capital in Palo Alto on Welsh Road. Here he met many in the newly understood venture capital world on Sand Hill Road.  As a advisor, John specialized in cash flow analytics and asset allocations with GE's east coast division from Palo Alto.

Prior to GE , he worked at EF Hutton, which was acquired by Shearson at 333 West San Carlos in San Jose. While at GE and EF Hutton - John Valentine worked on "portfolio hedging techniques". This became a mainstay in his portfolios after Black Monday in 1987. From 6 am to close of market, John worked with Victor Betbedal on specialized income producing covered call strategies for high net worth clients and option trading and strategies. Every afternoon after the market closed, John worked on retirement planning for Chevron, GE and American Airline executives with the Cooper Network. Mr. Valentine has written over 200 finance articles, many of which have been published or followed and discussed in competitors publications with acknowledgments to Valentine's cutting edge ideas. John is currently working on his first book, to better present these ideas.

Outside of work, John likes to hike with his kids, collect rare marine fish, plant herb gardens with his daughter, read, collect unique Chevron/Standard Oil/Gulf historical items, play basketball with his kids and watch the Golden State Warriors.

John aspires to support 100 charities primarily aimed at children's diseases and kids programs. Valentine's firms and Valentine Capital have donated more than $600,000 over the past 4 years.
