Q: Is Valentine Capital Asset Management a stock brokerage, a money management or a financial planning organization? A: Valentine Capital Asset Management is a fee-based money management firm offering asset management to individual investors. Investors are provided a window into the inner workings of our firm and their money through our High Net Worth Newsletter, regular Investment Policy Committee (IPC) briefings and scheduled rebalancing meetings. ____________________________________________________________________ Q: What is the Valentine Capital investment philosophy? A: Our philosophy is what we call "Thematically Driven Equity Portfolio Management". This approach begins with examination of a global overview encompassing geo-political overtones and sectors experiencing rotation. Against this broad background, stocks are broken down to their fundamentals and decisions are supported by technical data. _____________________________________________________________________ Q: Describe the insurance coverage my account would have and describe what is covered? A: Our custodians are members of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation. Securities in your account protected up to $500,000. For details, please see http://www.sipc.org/. As a supplement to SIPC, NFS has purchased additional account coverage to provide further asset protection for its customers. This supplemental coverage is not subject to a dollar limitation for any one account or for the firm. The current provider ot this coverage is Customer Asset Protection Company, a licensed Vermont insurance company. SIPC coverage and supplemental coverage provided by the Customer Asset Protection Company do not apply to investment advice. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Q: How frequently can I expect client/firm communication? A: All of our clients receive monthly account statements from the custodian. Confirmations of all transactions are mailed within 3 business days directly to your address of record. You will also receive annual reports and proxy statements for each position you hold. In addition, you will receive year-end tax reporting (1099’s and 5498’s) forms. We are happy to meet with our clients for periodic reviews of their portfolios, however, since this is a client-specific topic, we urge you to contact your VALENTINE CAPITAL representative to schedule an appointment that meets your lifestyle.
____________________________________________________________________________________ Q: What actions does Valentine Capital undertake to ensure my portfolio is managed efficiently from a tax perspective? A: We run a proprietary software program that evaluates the cost-basis of the stocks to help us make strategic decisions on liquidation tactics. The Qualified to Non-Qualified ratio weighs the tax ramifications of monies invested in qualified accounts against the ramifications of monies invested in non-qualified areas. We have access to three different tax desks, through strategic alliances with CPA Law Forum. On non-qualified investments, we want to make sure we are taking advantage of potential strategies. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Q: Would Valentine Capital use any product that would be difficult to transfer to another financial manager? A: Since all assets are held in your name, you can transfer any stock or bond from our broker/dealer's clearing firm. As we use no "in-house" proprietary products, the transfer of assets are not affected. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Q: How do I contact Valentine Capital Asset Management?
